Whose land this is
The resort acknowledges that it stands on Treaty 7 territory, the traditional lands of the Siksika, Piikani, Kainai, Tsuu T'ina and Stoney Nakoda Nations. In the resort's own words, the Stoney Nakoda are the original "peoples of the mountains", known in the Nakoda language as Iyarhe Nakoda. The resort also writes that they have continuously used, occupied and possessed their traditional lands since well before contact with Europeans.
The resort runs on reserve land held by Stoney Nakoda First Nation, Morley, and counts as one of Alberta's six Host First Nation casinos. The Mini Thni Foundation is the designated licensed charity for the resort. Proceeds of Host First Nation casinos go to charitable and religious programs that benefit the community. These details come from the resort's own pages and the AGLC page on Host First Nation casinos.
Online casino play in Alberta
Alberta has a regulated online gaming market. AGLC acts as regulator of that market, while the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) runs it. Running legally online means two things: being registered with AGLC and holding a signed operating agreement with AiGC.
AiGC keeps a directory at abigaming.ca/players/registered-igaming-sites where any site can be looked up. An approved operator carries the AiGC logo; one that cannot be found in the directory is unregulated. Run by AGLC, PlayAlberta.ca is the province's own site for online gaming, and the revenue it makes goes to the Government of Alberta. Only those aged 18 or older who are physically in Alberta can play.
One online casino partner receives the paid links on this page, each labelled Ad; a commission comes to the site, and the partner may change. Before opening any site, check it in the AiGC directory.
